Shiloh
Hope you are having a great weekend. We are! Shiloh (aka Shadow) is completely
& totally bonded to us- a ADORES J! Visited our groomer with Asterix
& had a three hour spa morning. She fell in love with him as well. His coat is extraordinary & his head us
like black velvet. We are so indebted to all of you at the Humane Society of New York.
Huge hug,
E&J & Shiloh & Asterix

Jolena
"Here are some
snaps of Jolena, who has added so much to our lives. She's such an innocent!
And incredibly playful--though I find it hard to work the camera with one hand
while playing with the other. She loves to chase those mice on strings at the
end of a stick, so much so that her tongue is hanging out in short order.
Chasing string is good, too. The cat tree is pretty much hers. And as you'll
see, she never met a container she didn't like. She's so sweet; everyone here
loves her.
We had thought
she would be a friend for Rose, but she has turned out to be best buds with
Baby, our most difficult and high-strung cat. It might be because Jolena has a
somewhat placid temperament; she's no pushover, but she doesn't always have to
win, either. Somehow this makes Baby feel more secure. The two of them play tag
just about every night, I think, running from room to room and making really an
astounding thundering sound with their little feet. There's a photo of the two
of them sitting on the bookcase.
She makes us all
laugh, and has made such a good addition to our household.
Best,
J"

Shelby
Shelby found herself here after her owner passed away. She came in with two other dogs and we saw immediately that Shelby was getting bullied by them. She was quiet and introverted. She didn't trust anyone or anything.
Slowly, she started to bond with her kennel workers but she was still not connecting with any potential adopters. We really needed to find someone that understood that with patience and lots of understanding, they could eventually bond with her just like the kennel workers had. Realistically, that is much easier said then done.
Thankfully, along came A. A specifically asked for a more shy pup. She knew what it would take but she also knew the rewards it could bring. At their first meeting, it went just as we imagined. Shelby made no eye contact with A, she made no effort to sniff her out. We thought for sure the deal was sealed. But no! A wanted more!
She began visiting Shelby every week, taking her for walks and spending more and more time with her. Eventually, they started to form trust and a relationship blossomed. When we all finally felt confident enough that Shelby would be comfortable to go home with A, we sent her off to live her new life.
Now, months later, Shelby and A are happy and best friends. A reports that Shelby goes everywhere with her and actually loves adventure. What a happy ending!!!
On the bus for the first time, heading to her new home!
Quality time.
