Elsa and Penny

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to forward a couple of pictures and update you.  Both Penny and Elsa are both settled in and seem very happy.

Penny plays with my other cat Maxwell a lot.  They run and chase each other until one or both are exhausted.  Penny takes care of Elsa and is very sweet.  She sleeps on  my pillow at night.  She is not cuddly during the day but at night she is all snuggles.  She was afraid of the dogs initially but not anymore. She doesn't particularly care for them but they know she doesn't like them sniffing around and respect that.

Elsa is a trip.  She is crazy to eat in the morning then settles down on my lap for a morning nap while I have coffee and read the paper.   During the day she is either running around or sleeping.  We find her in the bookcase, on the steps, on top of boxes packed for moving, or just about anywhere.  She has us trained to turn on the lights before going anywhere  so that we don't step on her.

They fill my heart with love.  I couldn't have asked for a better pair.

Thank you again,
L

Sasha

A big, huge congratulations to Sasha's parents who got married and had her at the wedding.  How romantic! Sasha also recently celebrated a birthday and her one-year adoption anniversary.  Lots to celebrate!

Griffey

Dear HSNY,
My name is M and I am writing to update the wonderful staff at the Humane Society of New York about the adorable kitten, Griffey, my boyfriend, D and I adopted last week. Please be sure to share this email with Bonnie and Lowell as they were integral in helping us to select our little guy.
Since coming home last week, Griffey (formerly Mascot and now named after baseball great Ken Griffey Jr.) has completely blossomed. After spending about a day and a half under the sofa, Griffey emerged and has since become a wonderfully social kitten. He is extremely cuddly, plopping himself in our laps whenever we are on the couch and purring loudly. Griffey has also become quite the athlete and rockets himself around the apartment with his stuffed owl or chasing the ball around the track in his scratching toy.
While he may have lost the timidity that he had at the Humane Society of New York, he still has the same voracious appetite, to which Bonnie and Lowell can certainly attest! He gobbles all of his food the minute it is put in his dish and is immediately ready for more. The second anyone sets foot in the kitchen he comes running just in case there might be the possibility of more food. Overall, Griffey is a very quiet kitty, but he squeaks up a storm (he still hasn't figured out how to do a full meow) when we are in the kitchen, making his case for another can of food!
D and I could not be happier with our little guy and our so very thankful to Bonnie and the Humane Society of New York for helping us to find Griffey! Attached are some photos of him from his first week with us.
Thanks!

M, D, and Griffey

Monty Update

Monty is a senior dog whose previous owner's fell on some hard times and were unable to care for him any longer.  We just got the most wonderful update from Monty's next chapter:

Hi HSNY,

My girls wanted you all to know that Monty is adjusting well to country life.  He loves the farm next door and the stream he discovered today.  He sat in the stream and ran through it for hours.  Here is picture from this morning.  Please let everyone know that Monty is a happy dog and sleeping as I type from all of the activity.  All four legs are moving as if he is dreaming about the stream and running through it.  Pretty funny actually when you think about it.
Thank you again.

Best Dog

Hello everyone,

Here are some pictures of Yalla (adopted February 2007) as Best Dog, on our wedding day.

He's the happiest dog in the world and he's given me (and my husband) so much love and joy over the past 6 years.

If we're ever back in New York we'll swing by and say hi!

With best wishes,

F, P and Yalla.

Congratulations on your marriage!

Family Affair

From the adopter:

Loving ever minute of them!   Even the rest of the gang, the two other adoptees from the Humane Society of New York are enjoying them, not to mention the rescue dog too.  I have included a couple more pictures for reference.  And again... I applaud everyone at the Humane Society--  a special shout out  to Bonnie and Sarah, without them... there truly be no 59th Street Magic. I hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

Warmest regards,

P
