Big Tony

Hi,

Writing a success story for Big Tony was not very easy. Though we did adopt him, we did not rescue him. If anything, he rescued us. I cannot tell you how much we love him, we are truly blessed to have him. As an advocate for senior dogs, Big T says it all. I would love to bring Tony down to visit, I know Tony would love to see everyone, especially Lowell.

Keep up the fantastic work that all of you are doing.

We fell in love with Big Tony, the minute we met him. There are no words to describe how fortunate we are to have Big Tony part of our family. When people ask us about him, we say we adopted him. That quickly follows with an “oh poor baby”. We chuckle and shake our head and say please do not feel for this little guy, we adopted him from the Humane Society of New York. He was living with so much love and received the best of care from everyone. We were just fortunate that we were able to bring him into our home and hearts.

From Big Tony:

They call me Big T or Big Tony because of my larger than life personality. My first few days with my new family, I was busy making sure everyone was aware of my rules. Fortunately, this transition went smoothly. When my mom or dad cannot hold me, I like to sleep on the big doggie bed with the others. However, my preference is in a lap. At night, I sleep in the big bed under the covers.

I only get to go outside if the weather is nice. The others love to play catch; I just like to run back and forth with them. They have two cats here, I have to make sure that they know they cannot be in the kitchen at dinner time which I prefer to be at 5 p.m. on the dot. In the morning I get to have breakfast, but I love morning treats. That is my favorite time of the day. However, having to get my face washed is not fun; I try to hide but they always find me.

Sometimes I get to go into the city to work with my mom. I have my very own chair to sit in, right next to my mom. I prefer to be on the desk and walk around, but for some reason my mom complains that she cannot type and I mess up her papers. It is difficult when we go outside in the city as so many people want to take my picture. Riding on the express bus, I get to sit on my mom’s lap and look outside the window. I like the bus better than the car, in the car I have to be in the car seat.

I miss my family and friends at the Humane Society of New York. I hope some of my friends were adopted so they could have their very own family like I do.

Becca The Kitten

Becca (on the right) came to us as a kitten in the middle of the winter of 2011. Upon attending an event called Beer For Beasts by Sixpoint (note: the greatest beer in the world), a photo of Becca was shown to someone looking for an additional cat for their family. They had come in to the Society previously but felt that it wasn’t the right time and they were now ready. Perhaps it was the beer, perhaps fate, but the next day, they came in to meet Becca in person and it was love at first sight. Becca, now known as Cali, is now almost fully grown and clearly comfortable and happy in her new home as you can see in the most recent and most adorable photo above.
