Miss Betty Goes To The Beach

Hello HSNY!

I thought I should send an update on Anko (formerly Miss Betty). She's doing so well and we love her so much! We've learned so much about her personality in the months that we've had her. She's such a little cuddle bug! She loves to lay wherever we are sitting, and has worn us down into letting her sleep in our bed at night. She's become an experienced little traveler, taking trips on the train with us to visit family, and flying with us down to Florida for a winter vacation. She very much enjoyed the Florida weather and walks on the beach (as long as she didn't have to get near the water). We've also discovered that she loves babies, and gets so excited whenever we visit our baby nephew. She's also very protective of him, as well as her mommies. Basically, she's been the perfect dog for us. I'm so glad that we were able to adopt her!

Thank you so much,

X

Randy (Now Sunny!)

Hi,

Bonnie did a wonderful job matching us up with Randy who we renamed "Sunny" because he is always so happy !  It took him about 5 minutes to make himself at home last Sunday when we brought him home. He loves to play, eat and cuddle, especially eat!  He brings us so much joy and we couldn't be happier.

Here are some pictures.

Siblings Sarah & Samson

Hi there!

It's been about 3 1/2 weeks since we brought Sarah & Samson home. We've renamed them Warren & Shirley.  As Bonnie and Lowell know from our phone calls, it took a while for them to acclimate & come out of hiding. Warren came around first, but now Shirley regularly jumps on the couch to join us (and sometimes walks on our heads at 5 in the morning). Warren likes to get his attention...when we're in the bathroom. (We've decided to just go with it.)

Here are some photos we took. Their color makes it difficult to get a good shot (with or without laser eyes) and Warren seems to be actively camera-shy.

Thanks,
X

Pistachio

Dear Friends,

Here is Pistachio now KiKi.
She is adjusting very well to her new home and the more we look at her she seems even more beautiful.
She is very affectionate and she likes sleeping with us at night, her favorite spot is in between our pillows.
Many thanks for this beautiful gift.

All the best.

Jeffrey (now Byron)

Dear Humane Society of New York,

Well it has been an interesting five days! We have gone from hissing and tantrums (on Loki’s side) at the mere smell of Jeffrey (a.k.a. Byron, the Purr Master General), to grumpy reluctance, to acceptance and finally protective companionship. It seems that Loki now not only likes Byron, but considers him to be ‘his’ kitten and looks after him, from grooming to making sure he eats first.

After Loki’s initial reaction, it became necessary to integrate the kittens gradually via the 'secluded room' method, but Byron has now had the run of the house for almost 48 hours and (fingers crossed) everything is going great.

I have to say, I think we got extremely lucky with Byron. He is the most good-natured and tolerant cat I think I have ever met. Even during the long, traffic-congested car ride home, he did not meow or complain once; just calmly played with his toy. His appetite is astounding. I don’t know what condition he was found in, but he acts as though he’s afraid he will never see food again :( Hopefully this will lessen after a while, as he keeps finishing Loki’s dinner for him!

Byron is so affectionate, always purring his little heart out. His ‘mouthiness’ has nearly disappeared since he has been running around, playing with Loki, and he spent yesterday evening on the back of the sofa purring and licking our heads lol. Both cats have been calmer and more affectionate; they were just desperate for a playmate. The past two days have been an overload of cuteness (please see attached photos), and we are so happy everything seems to be working out.

We are so impressed by the amazing work the Humane Society of New York does every day on very limited resources, and are so grateful to have had the opportunity to adopt one of your wonderful animals. We will absolutely recommend you to everyone we know and look forward to contributing in the future.

With much love and many thanks,
X

Gizmo the Kitten

We wanted to reach out and say that we are so incredibly happy with our recent adoption from the Humane Society of New York! Bonnie was an incredible match maker and we could not be happier with our amazing new family member Ernie, (formerly known as Gizmo:).

Ernie has brought an amazing amount of love and snuggles to our home, we are completely in love with him! I have attached a few pictures of Ernie in his new home for you to have a look.

This was my second adoption with Bonnie's help, and she has just been so amazing and helpful on both occasions. We are so thankful for the HSNY and all the care that you offer animals in need. All the best to you, and thanks so much again!
